7 essential tips for your winter hair care routine

Winters have set in. The cold winds and the dry weather leave hair and scalp dry. Hair becomes dry, rough and unmanageable. It can further damage hair, causing hair fall and breakage. Follow these simple tips to avoid hair damage in winter-

1. Oiling

 It is necessary to give moisture to your hair, as extreme weather leads to dryness and breakage. Massage your scalp and hair with Luke warm oil, and leave it for at least 30-45 minutes before washing. Oiling hair will also improve blood circulation and prevent hair fall. Apply oil once or twice a week for nourished hair, strong and healthy hair and scalp.

2. Washing

Refrain from washing your hair more than twice a week in winter. When washing, make sure to use luke-warm water. Hot water should not be used for scalp, as hot water reduces the natural oil content of the hair. Ensure that you use a mild herbal shampoo with herbs like Amla, Bhringraj etc for hair wash

3. Deep conditioning

Use a suitable conditioner for your hair. When applying a conditioner, start from mid hair and concentrate more at the ends. Leave it for 2-3 minutes and then rinse off with cool water. 4. Drying

Allow your hair to air dry. Avoid excessive use of hair dryers, as it damages hair and makes them frizzy.

5. Covering

Cover your hair when outdoors, by either wearing a scarf or a hat. This will prevent hair from cold weather and thus prevent damage.

6. Trimming

 During winter, trim your hair on a regular basis, after every 8 weeks if possible to get rid of split ends.

7. Tying

Keep your hair tied in winter to avoid frizz. Also, do not hold them very tightly, as this will lead to breakage.
